Blessings through the Pain

Life is never easy and it has been very difficult the last month.  But there are still some good things to be thankful for:
-A God that never leaves us, even when we have doubts and anger
-Family and friends that stick with you through the hard times and help you
-Surprises
-Unexpected relief just when you believe that things are impossible

Taking the negative and making it positive...

  • It is a blessing when I can take something negative that someone says, think about it, pray about it, and then turn it into something positive in my life or someone elses.
  • It is also a blessing when someone calls attention to my sin or unpleasant things that I do and I can pray about it and make changes that benefit God, the person that brought it to my attention, and myself!
  • Praise God that with His help and strength, I can do all things.
  • It is truely awesome when you live for God instead of yourself or others.
  • Praise God for the moments I truely listen to God and others instead of doing being prideful and selfish.

So true...

  • Went yesterday to see Nick Vujicic speak!  Wow, his message was amazing!  He said that we should focus and be thankful for the blessings that we have, rather than the things that we don't have.

Count Your Blessings Lyrics

This has always been one of my fav songs.

Count Your Blessings Lyrics by Johnson Oatman Jr 1897

When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,

When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Refrain

Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.
Refrain

When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings. Wealth can never buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

Refrain

So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
Do not be disheartened, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

Refrain

Weekend Blessings

  1. Went sledding and 3-wheeling with my husband and kids.  Had a really fun time with each other and just enjoyed hanging out.  I even started a snow ball fight!
  2. My husband did a chore for our oldest daughter just to be nice to her.  It was very thoughtful.
  3. My husband talked a lot with me last night and spent time with us because he said he is trying to share things with me so that I know what is going on in his life.
  4. Thankful that we both have jobs, when the economy is so bad.
  5. Did some reading and praying over the weekend and felt like some weights were lifted off of me that I've been carrying around.
  6. Clipped coupons with Morgan.  Saving money and spending time with my daughter.
  7. Found a show to watch that we all enjoy as a family.
  8. We will be getting our tax refund back soon and saved a lot of money on getting it done thanks to a family member.

Another 2 Things

  1. I was able to spend time in our warm house watching tv with just 2 of my kids.  Nice to have special time with them.
  2. My husband started up my car and scraped the windshield for me before work and gave me a kiss.

Two Things...ok, more than 2 things

  1. I love how our family can have fun together. We went sledding yesterday. It was nice to hang out even though my older daughter and I did so in the warmer car most of the time, lol. Nice to see everyone enjoy themselves, each other, and the snow!
  2. Thankful that my husband wants something better for me, and not to overburden myself.
Ok, so I got on a roll and now it will be more than two things:
  1. Thankful for a husband that stops what he is doing to spend time and talk to me.
  2. Glad that my husband and I saw eye to eye on a big decison we had about my oldest daughter's schooling next year.
  3. Blessed with kids that love God.
  4. Thankful for a husband that listens to me vent.
  5. Thankful for all the people in my life that took time and remembered to call and write to wish me a Happy Birthday yesterday.  I feel truely loved.
  6. Thankful for God's forgiveness and also the forgiveness of those in my life.

Colossians 4:2

Colossians 4:2 (New International Version)

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
